An excerpt from Garnes’ poetry collection Like Sweet Tea On A Hot Summer Day
By Edward M. Garnes, Jr.©
Blue aint the only color of jazz
Dance nigga
jubilee feet like Hines
sometimes angles
talk shit on microphones
Blue aint the only color of jazz
Heal nigga
laughter relives angst
side orders of white supremacy
and over due bill stress
Blue aint the only color of jazz
Free Nigga
we luv u nigga
for loving the nigga
in us all
