I cowered at the revelation that our soul brother number one, musical architect Don Cornelius, whose funky good time was always buoyed by a distinguished gentleman aesthetic, had taken his own life. Not by a pill popping escapade gone woefully astray, but rather a volatile projectile to the dome. This was personal. Garnes, Jr., founder of From Afros To Shelltoes (FATS), a community based art programming collective focused on bridging generation gaps between youth, elders, and hip hop heads, will join top music executives and industry professionals at Radio One’s 1st Annual Media & Entertainment Conference. The event will take place on November 21, 2009 at the Sheraton Raleigh Hotel (421 South Salisbury Street; Raleigh, North Carolina 27601).
