“I can honestly say “My Swag is Up” because I am healthy, I’m blessed to be happily married-celebrating 16 years, I’m a proud parent, a successful business owner, and still committed to the uncompromised liberation of my People.”

Internationally acclaimed artist/activist stic.man of dead prez has always put his art where his heart is; the community.  So you know his new single “My Swag Is Up” –from his on-line exclusive debut solo album Manhood Deluxe Edition– has to be about crafting a revolutionary remix to a term so misappropriated by the “wanna be down” mainstream its mere utterance should lead to jail time.   Balanced by stic.man’s unabashed vigor and edifying lyrical arsenal, the new single and video is a spiritual shout out to underdogs tackling everyday blues as loyal comrade Young Noble of 2pac’s legendary Outlawz offers poetic justice.

stic-man-manhoodBesides being a respected hip hop theologian, stic.man proves to be a very shrewd businessman strategically focused on cooperative economics.  In ways analogous to Spike Lee, who is known for giving talented black folks time to shine behind the lens, he employs Atlanta based The Horne Brothers, a Black owned and operated film company, as well as Shannon McCollum, hip hop’s Gordon Parks, to produce the progressively playful video.

In these times of great regression, stic.man’s multimedia company Boss Up Inc (WWW.BOSSUPBU.COM) continues the independent and non traditional path dead prez has followed to allow unfiltered access to the revolution offering new music downloads, brand merchandise, publications, and international tour booking.

Standing on the shoulders of Curtis Mayfield, The Last Poets,  Gil Scott Heron, and Public Enemy,  stic.man and dead prez continue to make true love and freedom accessible to the masses.  And for all us to see a brighter day, supporting cats that lay their lives –and art– on the line is not an option; it’s a necessity.

Nothing says support like buying products from independent artists.
